Young iLL "Rich Opp" Review

When Kendrick lamar said "Be humble, sit down!" on his 2017 hit "Humble" it was just a bar. For Young iLL its a lifestyle. Doing shit the opps can't do goes beyond the music. It involves shitting on the competition with lavish online flexing, and putting your haters on T shirts. I'm not speaking figuratively, I'm talking about legit putting the opps face on a T-Shirt and selling it to your fans.

The Rich Opp Intro rightfully sets the tone for the rest of the project.

"He only hard on computers I hang with them ballers, pimps, shooters" are some of the first words to reach your ears. iLL effortlessly carries the tough talk into "Knuck if you Buck" aided by Charlottes own sharp shooter 10cellphones. 10 is the first entry on a trio of local star studded features blessing the "Rich Opp" track list. The Wth Ports produced beat takes both artists back to their core sound. A sound authentic to Charlotte's rap roots, and that is represented well by some of iLL's other core producers, Lil Treesap, and Ooomari. Viral hit maker- soon to be superstar TiaCorine meets iLL with his own flow delivering a stone cold verse on "As a Kid", while Ronsocold fules the hype train that is "Live From The Trap."

"Taliban", the lead single off the tape, encompasses everything we love about iLL to wrap up the 6 track 12 minuet project. Overall "Rich Opp" is a polished result of years of perfecting his home grown sound.

"Rich Opp" is iLL's last effort before fatherhood, with his son just being born, it'll be interesting to see how it changes his drive, motivation, and approach to the mic.

Stream "Rich Opp" now on all platforms!
